Back

What a long time away ! From my blog that is...

This morning I heard of a way to post blog updates by email through sending them to a site called posterous.com - mentioned on an older Net @ Night podast http://www.leoville.tv/podcasts/itn.xml .

I tried it and it worked but it sets up a new blog address - there are only a few posts on One Old Bear - this blog - but I feel I should add to the start made here and not start again. That said I am going to research and see if I can find a way to update this blog through an email.

So much has changed in the world and the internet too - I listen to podcasts like TWIT by Leo LaPort This Week in Technology about all sorts of tech.

Net at Night - Leo with Amber MacArthur from Toronto Canada about all things internet.

Floss Weekly - about Free Libre Open Source Software - this one is harder to listen too - very techy. Leo too

MacBreak Weekly - about all things Mac or Apple - Leo too. =-)

Leo works hard has a studio in his home and is interested in everything. - Me too?

More later ........ >>

Ozzie

Ozzie
Emporium
A no name gas station
With a baseball hat pulled down on his head - gruff - What kind of Gas - How much? Cash or Credit? Slight of build he looked to be a tough customer this server - did not smile or look me in the eye. - Fill it Regular please, Credit. A white van pulled into the far side of the pump - “Hi Ozzie!” A friendly greeting for this gruff fellow - interesting - someone likes and knows him. Ozzie? looks or listens into my passenger window - Are you listening to the Andreas Bocelli CD I have on? No - the book on the seat The Way Home A German Childhood, an American Life Written by Ernestine Bradley. He then went to the little glass booth and brought out a book by Martin Booth - The industry of Souls !! - He has plenty of time to read in the booth so he often finishes one book per week. My next task - find out about this book.

I can't believe that Tom Coburn is a

Doctor! However I can count on him to weigh in on something he knows nothing about the - Shiavo controversy!

From the NY Times today

Doctors in Congress

an excerpt -
There are 12 medical doctors, 3 dentists, and 3 nurses in Congress, and most did not publicly invoke their medical experience during the Schiavo debate. Among them was Senator Tom Coburn, Republican of Oklahoma and a family practice doctor, who said in an interview, "I don't think you have to examine her. All you have to do is look at her on TV. Any doctor with any conscience can look at her and know that she does not have a terminal disease and know that she has some function.""

He is a terminal twit!

Entitlement Programs and Bush

I don't understand how Democrats oppose cuts in Medicaid calling for a commission to study it - there will not be cuts and the 2.5 Billion deficit rolls on!! 2.5 BILLION per DAY! $2,500,000,000.00!

Either contributions Taxes increase or Benefits decrease or both - but if nothing is done America will be a has been debtor nation - with all leaving for more reasonable and hospitable countries.

Lament about Books on Tape

My first entry on a blog was about how much I love to listen to Books on Tape and how much I have learned over the years - on the 35 minutes to and from Florham Park to Clifton NJ! - MacArthur - Stonewall - Napoleon - A.O. Wilson - WWII deck hand on a cruiser in the Pacific - All of Sandburg on Lincoln and so on - well Books on Tape no longer rents books - they sugget you go to Audible http://audible.com ( I forgot how to do the link short cut trick - something like Shift + Control + A - but of course it only works sometimes.) Not so easy to understand - i purchased and Apple Mini Ipod 4Gig to listen to books - but there is more to doing it than just sitting and making a phone call - more to blog about tmw - pbh
